Well this year seems to starting out fairly well. Had my first two closings of the year. I am also helping out Margaret Bonsey EA in the tax office. We had built up her business by 200 clients last year and we have new clients still coming in the door. I love seeing her thrive. Generally, I am keeping busy.
As for real estate, the chart shows that there was clearly a slow down in sales in January. This can be very normal because of the real life things that happen in January like the freezing cold that no one wants to move houses in. The number to keep an eye on is the New Contracts Written. Other than Washington County, the numbers went up. People are shopping and getting under contract. I just recently talked to someone who, with a 660 credit score, is working on getting a 6% loan with the closing cost being paid by grants he earned from a class through the Home Store in Hagerstown. It will be interesting to see how this closes at the end of February because the Mortgage Originator is in California. Note that this is not my client. I’ll let you know what happens.
